Rikin Patel MD FRCPC FAAP
Speciality: Pediatrician
I'm a consultant pediatrician and Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Toronto. I completed my pediatric residency at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Prior to medical school I completed a Masters in Health Policy Planning and Finance from the London School of Economics and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Currently I work for the Scarborough Health Network and a founding member of Markham Kids Clinic. I have completed the Plant Based Certificate program through the T Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies at Cornell University. I recently spoke as a panel member at the KW Veg Fest focusing on plant based nutrition for a pediatric population (link found below). I'm passionate about promoting a culture of wellness and resilience within physician and trainee communities through medical improv, meditation and plant-based nutrition. My plant based journey started as a child from my mom, a life long vegetarian who impressed upon me the principles of plant based eating. It wasn't until sixteen years ago though I wholeheartedly adopted a plant-based diet to improve my meditation practice and live an eco-friendly lifestyle. After years of trial, error and refinement I have been reaping the many physical, mental and spiritual benefits of this lifestyle transformation. As a result, I have developed an approach that I have been sharing with children and families to embody a family centred approach. In the spirit of prevention as an approach for children, I advocate to help reduce the risk of heart disease, cancer, obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol and fewer asthma flares all through a plant based diet. Having worked with numerous families I am passionate and confident in giving children and their families the best fuel for their wellbeing to maximize their potential.

Prasanna Yelnadu MD, LMCC, CCFP,
Specialty: Family Medicine, Fellowship in Medical CBT, Lifestyle Medicine
Other qualifications: Plant based nutrition certificate, eCornell Univ.
After practicing Family Medicine for 20+ years, I have realized the root cause of diseases and corrected myself and experimented with myself. When I got excellent results by switching diet mostly plant based and cutting down processed and ultra-processed food, my health improved by 100% (Health also has added benefits from Yoga and meditation). No medications and its side effects. Medications have their requirements but mostly in emergency situations or infections. Rest of the non-communicable disease burden is our own making which we can correct very efficiently with lifestyle changes.
